Summer Update

My name is Lora Kyle. I have the amazing opportunity of managing Driscoll’s Campus Programs, which includes University Partnerships and the Internship Program. In my second year in this role, I have successfully built relationships with university professors and staff to recruit college students nationally. During the summer, I offer a variety of professional learning experiences and networking events, which creates a well rounded experience for all of our interns.

The Internship Program has grown in size as well as scope. This year we have a record breaking 40 spring and summer interns from 14 universities and colleges. This is a 26% growth compared to 2012 and the program has more than doubled since 2011. In 2011, all internships were in Watsonville, today 20% of all internships are outside of Watsonville, including areas of California; Bakersfield, Santa Maria, and Camarillo, and outside of California; Hendersonville, North Carolina and Olathe, Kansas.  In addition, as our university partnerships have strengthened so has our intern candidate pool. This year’s interns comprised of 47% female and 45% are from diverse backgrounds.

The purpose of our Campus Programs is to create a direct pipeline of talent for Driscoll’s. In 2012, we accomplished this by hiring 43% of all graduated interns as regular full time hires.
All spring and summer internships have been filled! Please check back for 2014 opportunities.
